Annual Drive Begins in November

Dear friends of the Sebastopol Community Center,
the Cultural Center of Western Sonoma County!

Please help us continue to provide classes, events and programs to those in the West County & beyond! We need your financial support!

The dreams of a few can transform a community when their vision inspires other members
of that community to bond together and bring that dream into a beautiful reality. The
dream of an independently operated, non-profit Community Center for Sebastopol was
conceived and became a reality in 1983 when a dedicated group of citizens came together
with a vision.
In the twenty-three years since its infancy, much has changed with our Community Center.
It has matured into a central hub for activities and cultural events for the entire western
Sonoma County. Every year it provides more and more needed programs; serving literally
thousands of members of our community. Hundreds of classes, events, cultural festivals,
community gatherings and public meetings take place within our main facility located at
390 Morris St. and the Youth Annex at 425 Morris St. We also manage the Garzot/Duffield
Building on Valentine Ave., where we have a pre-school and offer numerous activities, such
as youth camps, music lessons, art, science, martial arts, and more.
Western Sonoma County has dramatically grown in population over the past two decades.
Our community has also become more diverse and sophisticated in its needs. We, as one of
its centers for cultural and educational expression, have done our best to stay at the forefront
of providing for these needs. Unfortunately, our main facility (built originally with
a dirt floor to house a boxing club for boys) can no longer adequately house our myriad
programs. In addition, due to its location within the Laguna de Santa Rosa flood plain, the
building is frequently rendered unusable in heavy rains.
We have a new dream for our community and we are asking for your help!

Building a Vision for Our Future

The board of directors and staff of SCC have a new vision for Sebastopol
   • Our dream is to build a new sustainable Community Center—a cultural center that will
continue to meet the growing needs of our citizens, as well as support the economic
health and vitality of Sebastopol.
   • Our dream is to build a state of the art “green” facility that utilizes current technologies
for conservation and renewable resources.
   • Our dream is to build a flexible, dynamic, and beautiful Community Center—safely
above the flood waters that have damaged our facility several times.

In order to realize this new dream for our community and generations to come, six to eight million dollars must be raised. Significant naming and legacy leaving opportunities for this new
Community Center and its theater, music studios, classrooms, conference rooms, and ballet
school are now being sought. Please take a minute to view our web site www.seb.org and become
acquainted with our vision and dream for a new Community Cultural Center. You can also
view a list of the programs and services we provide for over 500 people a day in our Community
Center. For information regarding pledging opportunities and how you may get involved with
our fundraising efforts, or to donate to the SCC Building a Vision for Our Future Fund through
the Community Foundation of Sonoma County or through the Edward Jones office of Tim
Moore or Kim Caruso, Executive Director, 823-1511 or kcaruso@seb.org.
Your help is also needed now, as always, for the ongoing support for our programs. We rely on
community donations to maintain high quality classes, youth camps, programs, festivals, concerts,
school-age education, and facilities for community use.

Thank you for your thoughtful investment in our community.
Sincerely,
Kim Caruso, Executive Director
