Dances of Universal Peace (AKA Sufi Dancing)
The Dances of Universal Peace (aka Sufi Dancing) are joyous, multi-cultural circle dances that rejuvenate the spirit and awaken the heart, danced to live music and the singing of the participants. “These dances get your head in the clouds and your feet on the ground”. We will sing and dance together to honor and protect the Earth and all her peoples and traditions. The group is taught the words, melody, meaning, and the movements of each Dance in a compassionate, comfortable manner. Storytellying, group part singing, meditations, and practices often accompany the Dances. This sharing of sound and movement acts as a cosmic glue or lubricant to create, sustain, and heal the community and the individual. Join us for a time of peace, reflection, and joy. No prior experience is necessary to experience this experience.
Dr. Tui Wilchinsky has been joyously leading the Dances of Universal Peace and facilitating heart opening events for 40 years. He started leading and living at the Lama Foundation, then led while traveling with Ram Dass, and at present he teaches in Northern California and internationally. He is a senior mentor of the Dances of Universal Peace, an Expressive Arts educator and consultant, a teacher of mathematics and science, a permaculture-based bio-ethanol fuel advocate, and a senior teacher within the Ruhaniat Sufi tradition.
