Bird Watching - Breeding Birds
Explore different areas of Sonoma County while learning about the local bird life. Summer is the season when our local resident birds have set up nests and the young fledglings are out. Wednesday evening’s class introduction (June 20, 2012) will be a slide presentation of resident birds, their songs and habitat. Then, Sunday mornings we meet at the Community Center, travel together to a new location where we will be sure to find exciting birds! Bring binoculars, field guide, layered clothing, comfortable shoes, water and lunch.
Orientation: 6/20, 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Field Trips: 6/24 - 7/15, 7:30am - 12:30pm

Bird Watching - Shore Birds
Every August, thousands of shorebirds descend from their northerly Arctic breeding grounds and pass through the marshes of Coastal California. Learn how to recognize Long-Billed Curlews, Black Oystercatchers, Least Sandpipers, and many more shorebirds. Wednesday evening’s class introduction (August 1, 2012) will be a slide presentation of shorebirds we will most likely encounter.
Then we will meet every Sunday morning at the Community Center and travel together to a new location where we will be sure to find exciting birds! Bring binoculars, field guide, layered clothing, comfortable shoes, water and lunch.Orientation: 8/1, 6:30pm - 8:30pm
