Wowing audiences all over the world with their seasoned brand of Celtic music, Dervish has risen to the top of their genre over the past ten years. They’ve shared the stage with such popular acts as REM, Sting and Britney Spears in front of a crowd of 250,000 at Brazil’s Rock In Rio music festival, the first Irish band to perform at this event. They’ve toured the world including Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Israel, Switzerland, Sweden and Greece, as well as their native Irish homeland and have proven that they deserve the reputation they’ve earned as of one of the best Irish bands playing today.
2012 was a year when the wider music community became aware of the creative and writing skills of Dervish. The band was invited to become part of a distinguished project of writers as part of newly developed James Grant/EMI Play music library in London, to write for TV and Film. They were also honored to provide music for a top new Irish movie, released in late 2012 called “Calvary”. It was no surprise that the band signed a publishing deal in 2012 with the Bucks Music Company in London. Also through this creative year the band were putting together material for a brand new studio album which they recorded in (what must be some sort of record) 5 days. “The Thrush in The Storm” was born and released to the world in April 2013.
