Instructor Mariah Volk

Mariah, Coach M, played for Healdsburg High School 1989-1993, where she was star point guard heralded as the "Envy of the Empire" (Press Democrat, 1993). She was twice selected All Empire Player of Year, three times All-State and honorable mention All American. In addition to receiving honors in basketball, Mariah was also a three time SCL Player of the Year in soccer and All-League in softball, earning her the 1993 Redwood Empire Athlete of the Year Award. She was then nominated by Cal-Hi Sports for Califonia State Athlete of the Year. (An honor that went to future Olympian Marion Jones.) She went on to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on a basketball scholarship. She has coached jr. high school girl’s basketball as well as many camps and clinics in locations including Sonoma County, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo and Playa del Carmen, Mexico. She now lives in Sebastopol with her family.
