Education

Music as Education is a program begun in December of 1999, providing elementary school aged children the opportunity to see and hear the music of exceptional performers.  April Verch, a Canadian step dance champion teamed up with Chris Caswell for our first performance.  We have continued to bring in highly acclaimed artists for children in the West County.

A partial list of the performers brought in for the children are:  The Second City Comedy Troupe (improvisation), Old Blind Dogs (celtic music), Axe Abada Capoiera (dance), Barachois (Acadian Music), The Campbell Brothers (Sacred Steel), Patrick Ball (theatre & music), Cucanandy (celtic music), Sandy Silva (percussive dance), Thomas Mapfumo (African music), The Persuasions (a capella), Jimmy Lafave (The Woody Guthrie Tribute) and Scott Gerber (Cowboy Traditions), Arlo Guthrie, Baka Beyond.

We have been fortunate to join up with generous benefactors from the Sebastopol Community to support this program.  Nina Gerber, a well known guitarist, is providing a significant portion of the proceeds of her CD titled, "Not Before Noon".  For more information log on to Nina's Website or you are able to purchase her CD by CLICKING HERE.
