Kindergym gives those aged six months to three years old a fun, open-play time. The hour includes climbing on structures, dancing, singing, and fun games with a parachute! This time also provides an opportunity for parents of these young ones to connect with members of this community.

Bija Choir   Bija is a Sanskrit word meaning “seed of creation,” which represents the choir’s mission of sowing community, appreciation and compassion for others, while at the same time cultivating a high quality, vibrant performance environment for young people who love to sing.   The program is headed by Mariah Jameau. The Bija Choir is an official nonprofit project of the SCCC.

Earth Camp  Earth Camp teaches children skills in gardening, expressive arts, and community building to enhance their relationship with themselves, their community, and the natural environment. With an adaptive and evolving educational model we provide children with experiences that empower a strong sense of personal responsibility, leadership skills, and intergenerational collaboration.

Facilities Presentation and Development

The Community Center  Main Building expanded in 1992 and refurbished after the floods of 1986, 1995, and 1997.

SCCC's Youth Annex has been remodeled and supports a wide variety of activities, including music, dance, city meetings, and special events. It is also the the first municipal building to be entirely solar powered!

The Superplayground next to the Garzot Duffield Building was built through the efforts of our former Executive Director and the people of our community.  The Community Cultural Center currently maintains and upgrades the facility.

The Garzot Duffield Building was expanded from a one room facility to a fully functional day care and summer camp site, which also serves as a community meeting place.

Analy High School Tennis Courts unsuitable for league matches (undersized courts), expanded to a fully functional, lighted cluster of courts used by the school and community.

Brook Haven Middle School tennis courts were damaged by school construction of a new gymnasium. The facility was resurfaced, with improved lighting and a small gathering spot.
