A Teen Job-Readiness and
Employment Program.
About TeensWork
TeensWork is designed to help teens gain much needed job skills in preparation for entering the work force as young adults. Teens are provided with training, work experience, and job placement support, offered through a combination of classroom curriculum, real-world experience, and continuing mentoring and one-on-one support. Upon completion of the program, teens receive a Certificate of Completion, and participating businesses are assured that the teens placed with them are qualified for the jobs involved.
This Spring the first group of Analy and Laguna students began their job training, and job placement occurred over the summer. Thank you to all those who helped with the initial year’s funding for this very necessary program for our local teens: The Rotary Club of Sebastopol, Sebastopol Sunrise Rotary, The Russian River Rotary Club, Ben Cushman and George Tuttle, and a number of anonymous private donors. This program will be self-sustaining beginning in April 2013, but for this first year it is still in need of matching donations.
Welcome to our new TeensWork Coordinator
A Letter from our Executive Director:
Hi all,
I'm thrilled to inform you that Celosia Arcadia has agreed to be our new TeensWork Coordinator. Laura Casey will continue to work with the program, but in a volunteer/support role (she has decided she'd like to spend a bit more time with her family than the TeensWork Coordinator position allowed her to do). Celosia is wonderful. She has lived in Sebastopol for many years. Most recently she ran the Sebastopol Community Cultural Center's summer program. Before that she was the director of Earth Camp, an innovative, environmentally-based seasonal camp for youth. She also runs her own business. Celosia is an outgoing, engaging, collaborative, and organized person who will work well with adults and youth alike. She understands business and loves working with people, which makes her the perfect person for the TeensWork Coordinator position. We are very much looking forward to her continuing to build this very worthwhile program.
Celosia will be present at the Analy Career Day that Ann Mansfield is organizing, staffing a TeensWork table. She'll be leading our scheduled February and March resume building workshops, and moving forward with the idea of a Job Shadow day in April. She'll be in touch with each of you regarding these and other upcoming plans.
Please feel free to direct any inquiries or questions regarding TeensWork to Celosia.
Thanks again for supporting the TeensWork Program!
Diana Rich, Executive Director
