Sebastopol Rotary Learn to Swim Program

Volunteers Needed! ~ Sebastopol Rotary Learn to Swim Program

This is the 34th year of the Sebastopol Rotary Learn to Swim Program which offers free swim and water safety lessons to all Sebastopol Area second graders. The lessons begin on April 23 and run to May 17. The following schools will be sending their students to Ives Pool twice a week for half hour lessons: Apple Blossom; Sebastopol Independent Charter; Sunridge; Orchard View; Gravenstein; Harmony; Pleasant Hill Christian; Oak Grove; Park Side. With over 400 kids involved we really need a lot of community volunteers to help teach basic swim lessons.

You don't need prior teaching experience or even competitive swim experience. We teach you how to teach the kids. No offer to help will be refused!. While it is nice to have the same person teach the same class for 8 lessons, we understand that might be difficult to schedule, so if you can even help a few days we would gratefully use your help. It is easy, and it is fun helping the kids. With the winter rains, the Russian River will be running high, cold, and fast, and all Sonoma watercourses will be full. It is the time to emphasize water safety.
