Instructor Jim Liebich

Moniteur Jim Liebich has been fencing competitively for thirteen years in the Bay Area. Jim is currently a B rated fencer in epee, and a D rated fencer in foil. In the 2008 tournament season, Jim placed 4th in the Baycup C and Higher Mixed Epee category out of 51 competitors. In the 2005 Summer Nationals, Jim placed 7th in the Division III Men's Epee competition, out of 167 fencers.

In 2000, Jim began coaching at the Sonoma Fencing Academy and eventually earned his Moniteur teaching degree from the prestigious French Fencing Federation. He founded En Garde Fencing in January of 2008 to provide high-quality fencing instruction in Santa Rosa and Sonoma County and promote the sport of fencing in order to share its myriad benefits for kids and fencers of any age. He is currently working on his Provost degree to improve his skills as a coach, and continues to train and compete. Jim teaches many fencing classes in Sonoma County for both youth and adult fencers. He regularly teaches classes at the Finley Center in Santa Rosa, the Sebastopol Community Center and the Rohnert Park Community Center. He teaches after-school fencing classes at The Healdsburg School and other local schools, and coaches both a student-run club and a fencing class at Sonoma State University. As the current Vice-Chair of the Northern California Division of the United States Fencing Association, he is committed to growing the sport in the Bay Area. Jim is a full-time fencing instructor, dedicated to providing the finest coaching available in Sonoma County.
